This is your chance to come along and see how your Society is being run.
It also enables you to voice your opinions on Society matters.
It is an important time for the Society and help is needed for the good work to continue.
The PAGS is looking for a member to become our Magazine Editor to manage and develop the Society’s quarterly publication ‘Pelargonium and Geranium Society News’ (PAGS News).
The current Editor will be standing down after production of the Spring 2017 edition so a new incumbent will be required to take over and edit the Summer 2017 magazine, the work for this usually being undertaken in May.
Those applying should be highly computer literate, being able to command control over document management and editing as well as digital image manipulation. Although specialist publication software is currently used in the role it is recognised that any publication software could be used to produce the document including Microsoft tools such as ‘Publisher’ and ‘Word’ so if you are competent at using these please get in touch. Help will also always be on hand from PAGS Committee Members.
In being a member of the Society the applicant would have an interest in Pelargoniums and Geraniums and would be required to take an active part in adding content to the magazine – this can be at any level and does not necessarily need to be high calibre expertise. There is also a requirement to source articles and information that may be of interest to members although the Committee are currently looking at different ways to do this.
The member accepting this role will need to report to the PAGS Committee and this would be best achieved by becoming a member of the Committee. The Committee meets just three times a year plus once following the AGM on the day. Mileage expenses are paid to attend theses meetings (except the AGM).
If you are interested then please contact the current Editor, David Taylor

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of the Pelargonium breeder Ken Dymond. Ken was mostly famed for his breeding of Angel pelargoniums, the majority of which (but not all) he prefixed with ‘Quantock’, after the Quantock hills in the area in which he lived in Somerset. Ken also bred a number of ‘Mendip’ series Regals and a few ‘Blackdown’ series Zonals.
The PAGS would like to pass on our sincere condolences to all of his family.
Funeral Details. Tuesday 12th July 2016 at 11.30 at the Sedgemoor Crematorium and afterwards at the Battleborough Grange Hotel. All friends are welcome but the family have requested that all wear an appropriate floral tribute in honour of Ken.
The picture shows Ken (left) receiving the RHS Reginald Cory Memorial Cup from the RHS Chairman Sir Nicholas Bacon OBE. Ken received this award, as a grower of important hybrids of any Genus, at a ceremony at the RHS Halls in Central London on February 27th 2015.
The new ‘free to view’ web-based International Register of Pelargonium Cultivars was launched on 14th April 2015 at the RHS Great London Plant Fair.
Want to know the history of your favourite plant, when it was released and who released it, then this is the site for all Pelargonium fans. Hybridisers will also be able to register their new releases*
Please note that you will be required to register in order to use the website. Registration requires an approval process which can take up to 24 hours to complete.
*New releases must have been commercially released by a plant Nursery.
This year the RHS will be holding its Annual Pelargonium Display in the large glasshouse at the RHS Wisley Gardens from Saturday 9th May until Sunday 7th June. The display is usually made up of masses of large labelled plants covering a large area of tables along with free standing specimens with a good mix of both older traditional amateur bred varieties as well as some of the more modern commercial hybrids.
PAGS Officers will be in attendance at the display on Sunday 17th May. So please come along, it would be good to meet and greet both members and non-members alike and hopefully persuade some more to join. We will have a large stand of specialist books and also take along some examples of more unusual Pelargoniums that are worth seeing. As well as the fantastic display, of course, you get to see the riches of everything else that the RHS Wisley Gardens have to offer. Above – one of the benches from last years display.
Do you enjoy figure work
The Society requires a new Treasurer.
The Job is not too demanding and full training will be given by the current incumbent.
You would only be required to attend three committee meetings a year and the AGM held in March.
Are you the person who can support us ? You will be made most welcome.
Please apply to the Chairman via this website giving name, contact details and relevant experience.
